Oliver James is partnering with an international client in the financial services sector to recruit an AI Engineer with a strong background in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Large Language Models (LLMs), and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to join a forward-thinking organisation at the forefront of digital transformation in financial services.As an AI Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, and deployment of next-generation AI solutions that drive innovation, improve operational efficiency, and enhance customer experience. This role is based in Brussels, following a hybrid working model.Key ResponsibilitiesAI Solution Development: Design, implement, and deploy advanced AI/ML solutions on Google Cloud Platform, with a particular focus on LLMs and RAG-based architectures.Data Engineering & Retrieval: Build and optimize scalable data pipelines and retrieval mechanisms, leveraging vector databases and modern search technologies.Model Integration & Deployment: Operationalize models into production, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance.Collaboration: Partner with data scientists, cloud engineers, and business stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into AI-driven solutions.Performance & Monitoring: Conduct validation, testing, and continuous monitoring of models, ensuring they meet business and compliance requirements.Best Practices: Contribute to coding standards, documentation, version control, and cloud security compliance.Innovation & Research: Stay informed on industry trends and advancements in LLMs, generative AI, and financial AI use cases, proposing innovative applications for the business.RequirementsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field.Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an AI/ML Engineer, Data Engineer, or Software Developer, ideally within a financial services or technology environment.Proficiency in Python and its ML/AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, LangChain, etc.).Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (Vertex AI, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, AI/ML APIs).Practical knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs) and experience implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).Familiarity with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS) and advanced retrieval methods.Strong understanding of data pipelines, APIs, and cloud-native architectures.Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.Nice to HaveExposure to the financial services industry or other highly regulated environments.Experience with MLOps and CI/CD tools for machine learning workflows.Knowledge of containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.Experience working in an international, multicultural environment.Location: Brussels (Hybrid)
