You will spend at least 50% of your working time preparing a PhD thesis. In addition, you will play an assisting role in teaching, research and service activities.PhD research
  • You will work actively on the preparation and defence of a PhD thesis in the field of analysis and/or geometry. Your research topic lies within one of the current lines of research of the senior members of the Analysis group (S. Hohloch, D. Eelbode, T. Mestdag), see

A non-exhaustive list of topics includes for example symplectic geometry, (non)integrable Hamiltonian systems, Floer homology, analysis and applications of Dirac operators, symmetries of differential equations, geometric mechanics, Finsler geometry.... * You will organise your own PhD research and report on your progress regularly.

at the Antwerp Doctoral School to support your PhD pathway. * You will present the findings of your PhD research at academic conferences and you will publish them in scientific journals.Education
  • You will provide support with teaching and also teach high-quality academic classes yourself in Mathematics. Your teaching assignment may include basic mathematics courses as well as more specialized courses in your research domain.
  • You will supervise students and their Bachelor and Master dissertations.

Profile
  • You hold a Master degree in Mathematics, Physics or Engineering Sciences, or you will have obtained it by the time you start work.
  • You did not yet obtain a PhD in Mathematics.
  • You can demonstrate excellent study results.
  • You have a very good and broad knowledge of analysis, dynamical systems and differential geometry.
  • Your research qualities are in line with the faculty and

What we offer
  • We offer an appointment as a graduate teaching & research assistant for a period of two years. Following a positive evaluation, the appointment can be renewed twice up to a maximum period of six years.
