  • At least 70% of your assignment will be spent on academic research in the research group Liquid Crystals and Photonics (LCP) in the field of electro-optic materials and compoonents. You are the first point of contact for the fabrication and characterization of chips with electro-optic functionality.
  • You will assist in teaching activities of the department in Master's programs in Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering and/or Photonics Engineering, and in Bachelor programs in Engineering (for courses such as Electrical Circuits and Networks, Materials in Electronics, Materials and Fields, etc.).
  • You will counsel Bachelor's and Master's students in their exercises, projects and Master's dissertation.
  • You will counsel doctoral students.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • You hold a doctoral degree (Doctor of Engineering Physics; Doctor of Electrical Engineering; Doctor of Photonics Engineering; Doctor of Science: Physics; or an equivalent degree).
The degree requirement needs to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment.For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted.
  • You have already conducted research within the field of electro-optic thin films for integrated photonics.
  • You have experience in design and cleanroom fabrication of electronic or photonic chips. You have experience in working in a cleanroom environment and you have experience in operating equipment for lithography, etching, thin film deposition or other micro- and nanofabrication equipment.
  • You have distinguished yourself as a promising researcher in your doctorate.
  • You are profoundly interested in coaching students in the Bachelor's, Master's and/or Advanced Master's programmes.
  • You have excellent teaching and communication skills in Dutch and English.
  • You are interested in valorization of research and you are willing to collaborate with industrial players for the valorization of the research results.
  • You may present relevant scientific publications in (inter)national peer-reviewed academic journals that are widely disseminated.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
  • We offer you a temporary appointment for a period of 1 year. The appointment cannot be renewed.
Even if you have already been appointed earlier (whether or not at another university and whether or not in the same field of discipline) in a first term of up to 3 years, you can apply. The second appointment does not have to be immediately connected to a first term.
  • Your appointment will start on 1 October 2025 at the earliest.
  • Your remuneration will be determined according to salary scale AAP5.
