Job Description: Assistant to Occupational Therapist - Reserve / Substitute PositionOverviewThe International School of Brussels is a dynamic learning organization committed to developing independent learners and international citizens. The school is a vibrant community in which students, teachers, staff and parents work together towards the achievement of its mission and goals.The School Based Occupational Therapist (OT) manages a caseload of students with a range of needs, offers an effective specialized assessment of sensory-motor development and integration and is a part of the multidisciplinary teams that sit within each division within the school.The duties of the Occupational Therapist Assistant will include carrying out the directions and activities planned by the certified Occupational Therapist on staff, serving students from PreK through 12th grade. Duties will also include collaboration with a cross section of professionals including Speech & Language Therapists, School Psychologist, classroom teachers, learning specialists and others, keeping records, and supporting the Mission, Vision and Learning Principles of ISB.Important Note: This is a Reserve / Substitute Position - Interim work covering ad-hoc requestsMain Accountabilities
Serve students in a variety of settings including 1:1 or small groups, both in the Therapy Room and in the classroom.
Serve as part of the Child Study and/or Student Support Teams when requested.
Measure and report progress on Individual Learning Plan (ILP) goals for students who qualify.
Maintain accurate and up to date records such as activity or therapy logs and progress towards goals.
Maintain a safe environment in which to provide therapy.
Attend staff meetings, parent meetings, professional development and other events or activities as requested by the Supervising Occupational Therapist and/or Director of Inclusion and Challenge.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Success Profile
Fluent in written and spoken English.
Have relevant work experience with children and/or individuals with exceptionalities.
Exhibit a strong interest in Sensory Integration and/or primitive reflex integration.
Demonstrate excellent “people” skills in order to create valuable work relationships, to manage stakeholder expectations and create a positive work atmosphere in the school.
Able to communicate clearly.
Demonstrate reliability and trustworthiness.
Commitment to the wellbeing of students.
Demonstrate a growth mindset towards self, students and others.
