Looking for a Project Engineer Coatings / Bio-based Materials / Circular EconomySirris supports companies in applying coatings in a circular context as one of its specific area of expertise in the field of circular economy and sustainability. Various solution pathways are explored, both at the product and process level: bio-based materials, circular concepts for the reuse and recycling of coatings, valorisation of residual streams, service life extension, functional coating layers, and the introduction of new technologies.To help achieve this, we are looking for a Project Engineer Coatings and Renewable Materials:You lead or contribute to the execution of short- and long-term innovation projects for various internal and external stakeholders.You advise and assist companies in exploring and addressing their challenges related to extending the service life of materials through coatings, and in implementing circular solutions.You ensure the correct and prompt follow-up of technological customer inquiries: you gain a good understanding of their needs, provide advice, and help develop a project proposal.You have a hands-on mentality and enjoy practical laboratory work for testing new materials, products, concepts, and test setups.You actively build knowledge on relevant topics within the specific research domain of coatings in the context of sustainability and circular economy.You keep track of the latest technological developments in coatings in both research and industry, and raise awareness among companies via various media channels.You work in a multidisciplinary team and contribute to the daily activities, the quality, and the research.What do we expect from you?You have a Master’s degree in (Industrial) Engineering Sciences with a specialisation in Materials Science, hold a PhD, or can demonstrate relevant expertise in the field.You have a strong background in polymer processing, polymer chemistry, coating development, testing, and related analytical techniques.You have experience in applied research with industrial relevance.You are a hands-on experimentalist, comfortable with independent laboratory work.Experience in setting up projects with companies and knowledge partners is an asset. You have the persuasive skills to involve partners in projects.Language skills: English, knowledge of Dutch & French is an advantage.You communicate and present convincingly, and write fluently.You are an initiator and a driver, with a positive attitude and openness to others’ opinions.You have a passion for innovation and work in a results-oriented way.Sirris has multiple sites.
