These consortia bring together complementary research departments per application area. Each consortium is responsible for the valorization within its domain.EnerGhentIC is the Ghent University IOF consortium in the domain of energy. The executing team of EnerGhentIC currently consist of 6 people. The team supports all involved researchers in order to create impact. Research results are not supposed to stay within the university, but should be used to facilitate the energy transition. The EnerGhentIC team supports its 200+ researchers by assisting in the acquisition of research subsidies (both national and European), by facilitating the collaboration with industrial and societal partners, by the organization of events, by creating partnerships with policy makers, etc.The EnerGhentIC team is looking for a motivated and engaged colleague to join the team as innovation officer.EnerGhentIC website:YOUR TASKSThe Innovation Officer Energy will have a key role in shaping research projects and acquiring (governmental and mixed public-private) research funding for innovative technologies that could have major economical and societal impact. These projects will allow to bring these technologies to a level (proof-of-concept, pilot, demonstration, …) at which they can be transferred to industry. In addition, the Innovation Officer will actively contribute to facilitating and maintaining company contacts, idea generation and EnerGhentIC team activities.Application domains within EnerGhentIC are energy in industry, sustainable cities, flexibility, energy markets, sustainability, offshore wind energy, hydrogen (and derivatives).As an Innovation Officer within the EnerGhentIC consortium, you will:PROJECT ACQUISTION:Coordinate the process of compiling project funding proposals (both national and European) in close collaboration with the scientists and the EnerGhentIC colleagues. You will actively contribute to the grant writing of industrial research projects, with a focus on the path to market, the socio-economic impact and the fit with the project call.Be pro-active with regard to new opportunities for innovation, identify appropriate funding channels and inform scientists on specific project calls, either in Flanders (FWO, VLAIO, …), on the federal level or internationally (Horizon Europe, …).PROJECT EXECUTION:Execute valorization related activities in a limited number of running projects.Follow up the project portfolio w.r.t. reporting of deliverables and tangible results.IDEA GENERATION:Organize discussion moments with both researchers and external partners in order to identify collaboration and valorization opportunities.Contribute to the development of a strategic innovation roadmap within the EnerGhentIC consortium.Develop and maintain external relations (with industrial and societal stakeholders) in order to set-up collaborations, in the format of projects or long-term partnerships.CONTRIBUTION TO TEAM ACTIVITIES:Participate in weekly team meetings;Contribute to the organization of EnerGhentIC events;Contribute to the EnerGhentIC communication channels (eg. website, LinkedIn);On longer term, this position will enable you to build an extensive network of academic and business partners in a number of research areas; to obtain a deep understanding of the challenges in the research area and get insights in the value chain of the corresponding industries and markets.For more information on the job content, please contact Judith Ooms via . (Please note: Do not send your application by e-mail but apply online).WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORKnowledge & experienceYou have:a Master Degree in Engineering;a scientific background in the research area;a PhD or at least 5 years of equivalent experience in industrial relevant research or strategic basic research is a plus;experience with innovation proposal writing is a plus;basic knowledge of aspects of business development/valorization, such as IP/patents and contractual arrangements can be an important asset;special interest in applied research and in the maturation of technologies towards industrial applications/products;excellent knowledge of the English language;profound knowledge of the Dutch language is a definite plus.Skills & attitudesYou have:proficient project writing skills (preferably innovative research projects);broad technical and interpersonal skills to coordinate collaborations between teams with different technical/scientific background;excellent communication skills and you are a team player;the skills to work accurately and to meet deadlines;a dynamic and proactive mindset.WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
  • We offer you a contract of indefinite duration.
  • Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale WM1 to WM4 (if you hold a Master's degree) or salary scale PD1 to PD4 (if you hold a doctorate).
