We explore new technologies and invest in infrastructure to accommodate hydrogen, biomethane, CO2 and other molecules for a climate neutral future.For the GRID department (Station Asset & Maintenance Team) at our headquarters in Brussels (near the train station and subway, ) we’re looking for an Energy process Engineer (m/f/x).The GRID department operates Fluxys Belgium's gas transmission grid with a view to ensuring the supply of gas to end users at all times and guaranteeing the safety of facilities, the environment and employees. Concretely, this involves inspecting, operating and maintaining the pipeline network and related facilities as well as efficiently managing all work carried out by third parties in the vicinity of our facilities. Organisationally, the GRID department is divided into five regional zones spread across Belgium, bolstered by two central services (Asset & Maintenance Team and Third-Party Works Team) which define the maintenance programme and working methods, and monitor and improve the reliability and availability of our facilities through technical analyses and innovative solutions.Job

respon­sibilities
  • You will be part of a multidisciplinary team that supports the regional operational entities in the management and maintenance of the gas grid and you will be the contact person for our staff in the field
  • You will be the point of contact for all issues relating to equipment control and the management and monitoring of process parameters, such as control instructions, capacities, consumption and emission
  • You will be in charge of managing the methods used to secure (and re-deploy) our facilities during small and large-scale maintenance activities and you will actively take part in ensuring they evolve, in particular with a view to reducing their impact in terms of greenhouse emissions (use of recompression systems, mobile lighting systems, etc.)
  • In the GRID Department you will be the contact person for all safety studies. You will support the regional grid entities in their efforts to improve work and equipment standards in order to ensure optimal safety in terms of both workplace safety and process safety
  • You will manage emergency plans within the GRID Department and you will be the contact person for crisis management exercises and training programmes
  • You will take part in making the facilities more efficient and more environmentally friendly by strengthening the know-how of our teams and by developing best practices to ensure the optimal functioning of our equipment
  • In the context of digitalisation, you will monitor new technologies and you will help to identify and develop new opportunities. You will pay particular attention to data connectivity (IoT). You will develop innovative solutions that allow optimal control of our facilities. You will help to develop a conditional and even predictive maintenance programme
  • In connection with the energy transition and Fluxys' goal of transporting H2 and CO2 via our infrastructure, you will analyse the impact of these new gases on our facilities and propose solutions for guaranteeing the operational and long-term availability of these facilities
About

  • A master's degree in engineering (civil or industrial engineering) or equivalent experience
  • You have between 3 and 10 years' experience in a similar role in the industrial sector
  • A passion for technology and the energy transition
  • A healthy dose of intellectual curiosity and the desire to explore the world of industrial maintenance
  • Interest or experience in managing projects or studies
  • An interest in new technologies (maintenance 4.0, IoT, artificial intelligence, data analytics, etc.) and a facility for analysing large volumes of data
  • A critical mind, an ability to solve problems and manage multiple subjects at the same time, independently, from the study phase through to final implementation
  • Team spirit
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate and lead others
  • Excellent knowledge of Dutch and a working knowledge of French and English
Additionally, this role requires:
  • A category B driving licence and the willingness to travel regularly throughout Belgium
