Responsible for leading the risk management function across EMEA, overseeing risk identification, assessment, and mitigation efforts to safeguard the stability and integrity of Wise's operations regionally.Your mission:As the regional risk leader you would be responsible for:Enhancing and implementing a global risk management framework tailored to the EMEA region, in alignment with Wise's global risk management strategy.Providing strategic leadership and guidance to regional risk management teams, ensuring consistent application of risk management methodologies, policies and procedures across all EMEA operations.Leading the risk management function including; hiring, team strategy and talent development for the region ensuring high quality engagement from the second line with deep domain expertise to provide proactive risk insights to the business.Conducting regular risk assessments and stress tests to identify and evaluate risks specific to the EMEA region, including Operational, Tech, Compliance, Financial, Financial Crime and Strategic Risks.Working closely with product teams to value add on risk insights into product changes, new product and market launches, open issues and horizon risks relevant to the region.Driving initiatives to promote risk awareness and a strong risk culture throughout the organisation's EMEA operations, including training and awareness programs for Wisers.Overseeing the implementation of risk management tools and systems in the EMEA region, leveraging technology and data analytics to enhance risk monitoring, reporting, and decision-making processes.Provide timely and accurate risk reports and updates to senior management and the board of directors, highlighting key risk exposures, trends, and emerging risks in the EMEA region.Develop and maintain effective relationships with regional regulators, industry peers, and other external stakeholders to stay abreast of regulatory developments, industry trends, and best practices in risk management.QualificationsThe experience / skills we're looking for:
  • A seasoned professional with a deep understanding of regional market dynamics, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Experience in the financial industry, preferably with a focus on the EMEA region, ideally with first line and second line experience.Leadership: leading risk management functions with strong business engagement, including developing and implementing regional risk frameworks, policies, and procedures.Strong understanding of regional market dynamics, regulatory requirements, and geopolitical factors impacting the EMEA region, with the ability to assess and quantify risks across various business lines and geographies.Leadership abilities: you're able to effectively hire, build, scale, manage and motivate teams across multiple locations and cultural backgrounds.Proficiency in developing pragmatic risk management methodology and frameworks to guide the business on evaluating and prioritising risks.Strong commitment to integrity, ethics, and professionalism, with a passion for promoting a strong risk culture and fostering collaboration across the organisation's EMEA operations.Additional InformationWe're truly global in who we are, how we work, and how we build.
